New proposals to replace a Burntwood pub with homes have been submitted to planning chiefs.

An earlier scheme on the site of the Centurion pub on Chase Road was refused after Lichfield District Council deemed the plans “would result in an over-intensive and cramped form of development”.

But a new layout has now been proposed which would see the pub transformed into a house and a further three properties built on the land.

The planning statement for the new scheme said:

“The numbers of dwellings have been reduced from seven to four which dramatically reduces the development density, helps to alleviate potential parking issues and minimises the impact on the amenity of neighbouring properties. Due to the decreased density there is more breathing space within the development which has facilitated the retention of the existing holly hedge.”

Local residents can have their say on the proposals on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
