Plans for a new food kiosk at Chasetown Football Club have been rejected.
Lichfield District Council said the development would be “inappropriate” in the Green Belt.
The club had said the “temporary” cabin was needed as part of Football Association promotion requirements.
In a statement supporting the application, The Scholars said: “Chasetown FC have not enjoyed the success of previous years.
“After obtaining approval at considerable cost for the development of a new stand and facilities, due to the economic climate the project was not started.
“The Football Association’s ground grading co-ordinator has insisted that the additional facilities are provided so as to ensure that Chasetown, if successful in securing promotion, are approved.
“At present, the facilities at the ground are insufficient.”
But Lichfield District Council’s planning bosses said: “It is not considered that there are any very special circumstances which would outweigh resultant harm to the Green Belt.”
