THE upper floors of a Lichfield pub could be converted into short-stay residential accommodation.
Plans have been submitted for Brewhouse and Kitchen on Bird Street.
If approved, it would see the first and second floors of the Grade II Listed building repurposed.
A planning statement said:
"The first floor of the premises currently comprises customer toilets, office and two function rooms, with the second floor comprising a manager's flat, along with additional ancillary storage space.
"The application proposes to change the use of the existing first floor office and function rooms to provide four en-suite guest bedrooms, with the second floor floorspace repurposed to provide a further five en-suite guest bedrooms.
"The works at second floor include relocating the existing manager's flat to the other side of the building. It will remain a one-bedroomed unit.
"The existing customer toilets will be retained in their current position and be unaltered."
The application added that benefits of the change of use would be two-fold:
"The provision of additional overnight accommodation will help to support local tourism and the wider economy, while also helping to sustain the existing business that operates from the site."
