Burntwood is set to get a new McDonald’s restaurant after plans were approved.

The drive-thru will occupy the site where Kwik Save and Tesco once operated.

There had been local opposition to the scheme amid fears of anti-social behaviour and noise, although local Conservative councillor Helen Fisher said she hoped the new restaurant would spark a boom in Burntwood.

“I hope they’ll be one of the first of many new businesses to come to Burntwood,” she said.

The new restaurant is expected to provide more than 65 full and part-time jobs.

Full details of the proposals can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
