Planners have rejected proposals for two wind turbines to be built near Lichfield.
The development at Haunton would have seen the 102m high blades erected on land at Hogs Hill.
But Lichfield District Council refused the application, claiming the scheme would “result in an unacceptable visual intrusion in the local landscape”.
The result will be seen as a victory by local residents who have fought a long campaign to prevent the controversial proposal going ahead.
Prowind UK had previously withdrawn an application for four turbines on the site, but their revised scheme has also failed to be accepted.
The council’s planning refusal notice said: “The proposed turbines, due to their location and scale, would result in an unacceptable visual intrusion in the local landscape, thereby harming the character and appearance of this part of the countryside.
“It is not considered that this harm would be outweighed by the contribution made by the turbines to sustainable energy generation.”
