Plans unveiled to create new homes on the site of derelict farm buildings in Lichfield

Published:

The site of a former farm in Lichfield could be transformed if plans for new housing are given the go-ahead.

Sandyway Farm, on Walsall Road, has been earmarked for five new homes.

Many of the buildings on the site have already been demolished and now developers want to remove what is left of the farmhouse, outbuildings and barn.

And they hope to replace them with new buildings in-keeping with the character of the previous ones.

“The proposed scheme has been generated taking into account the volume, character and position of the buildings that previously existed,” a statement supporting the application said.

“While the site lies within the green belt, its position on the edge of the city and on a main gateway into Lichfield means there is an imperative to provide a high quality solution for replacement buildings, while having a minimal impact on the openness of the green belt.”

Residents can see the plans in full and comment on the proposals via Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
