Manager Dean Gilbert has insisted his Lichfield City FC players were not to blame for their defeat against Young Warriors FC.

The City boss didn’t hold back after seeing his side have three penalty appeals turned down in the game.

And after berating the efforts of his players the week before, Gilbert was at least pleased to see them rediscover the fighting spirit he expects.

The Lichfield manager said:

“Last week I slated my lads for not giving me enough. This week I can’t praise them enough. We endured everything today and my lads showed they can remain calm when put under intense pressure and I’m proud of them.”

Lichfield City’s next fixture sees them travel to Cadbury Athletic Reserves on Saturday (September 18).
