PLANS to build a new detached property in Little Aston have been rejected.
The proposals had been submitted to Lichfield District Council for the plot on Talbot Avenue.
A planning statement said the planned "contemporary" home to replace Dower House would "preserve the spacious landscaped character of the conservation area".
But planning chiefs said concerns about the proposed building and insufficient information on engineering required to create the swimming pool meant it could not go ahead.
A decision notice said:
"The proposed dwelling, by virtue of its overall architectural form and material palette would not demonstrate a sufficiently high-quality and contextual response to the character and appearance of the area and appear visually incongruous within the established location and fail to respond appropriately to the locality or distinctive character and pattern of Little Aston Park.
"The proposal does not achieve the high standard of contextual design required within the Little Aston Conservation Area and would neither preserve nor enhance its character or appearance, resulting in less than substantial harm to the significance of the wider designated heritage asset."
