PUB bosses have raised a glass to a Burntwood man who has helped run a number of outlets across the country.
Matt Keyte has travelled up and down the land to step in at short notice for RedCat Independent Pubs.
His efforts have now seen him named as the company’s Supporting Person of the Year.
Matt said:
“If someone is needed to take over as general manager for a time I have generally been called upon.
“Sometimes it can be for a week, sometimes as long as three months.
“I really enjoy it. It’s great meeting different people.”
In the past year alone, it has meant he has worked in a string of different pubs in Essex, Staffordshire and Nottinghamshire.
Matt, who has recently been working at The Hare just outside Chelmsford in Essex, began his career with the company at the Ye Olde Windmill in Gentleshaw after seeking out a career change.
“I was a builder for around 20 years, but I injured my back and couldn’t continue.
“But I love the job I do now. Day to day you never know who is going to come in. I like the social side, you get to meet new people all time.”
Richard Lewis, CEO of RedCat Independent Pubs – which runs more than 39 outlets across the country – said Matt’s award recognised someone who makes a group-wide impact through “collaboration, generosity and a team-first mindset”.
Matt said:
“I couldn’t believe that I had won – but it was lovely to be recognised.”
