PLANS for a new pump track could see it move to a new location in Burntwood.
Campaigners have been trying to get the facility built at Chasewater as part of a high-profile campaign.
But a report to a meeting of Lichfield District Council's cabinet said an alternative site could now be used.
The report said:
"In March, cabinet approved an 'in principle' allocation of Community Infrastructure Levy funding to Burntwood Town Council for the delivery of a pump track at Chasewater, subject to confirmation of a suitable site and land ownership.
"Discussions with Staffordshire County Council have confirmed that delivery at Chasewater is not feasible within the agreed timescales.
"Alternative sites were therefore explored with Burntwood Town Council, and one has been identified at Redwood Park, which is owned by Lichfield District Council.
"Work is now progressing to secure a lease arrangement to enable the project to proceed at this location."
The report also recommends funding deadlines for the scheme be extended.
"To enable delivery at the alternative site, it is recommended that the existing 'in principle' allocation be extended by six months to March 2027.
"This will allow time for site investigations, agreement of heads of terms, public open space consultation and completion of the necessary legal and governance processes.
"The project remains on track to be delivered within three years of award by March 2029."
The proposal will be discussed by Lichfield District Council's cabinet at a meeting on 13th July.
