A REPORT has recommended plans for 70 new homes in Kings Bromley are approved.
The application for land on Lichfield Road has been called in by Cllr Richard Cox for consideration by the planning committee due to concerns over issues such as highway safety and loss of countryside.
But a planning officer’s report has recommended approval of the development, despite the site not being allocated for development and being beyond the “settlement boundary” of Kings Bromley.
The report said:
“Officers are satisfied the site is capable of accommodating 70 new dwellings and would provide sufficient green space in accordance with the Lichfield District Design Code across the landscape typologies.
“Subject to details expected at the necessary reserved matters stage, development would not cause unacceptable harm to the setting and character of the Kings Bromley Conservation Area.”
There had also been “significant concerns” raised by neighbouring Kings Bromley Cricket Club over the potential for balls to land in the development.
The planning officer’s report said:
“Ball strike assessments have been completed by the applicant in accordance with Sport England and English Cricket Board (ECB) approved standards.
“A mitigation plan has been put forward which includes a ball stop fence constructed on the intervening boundary.
“Sport England, in consultation with the ECB has no objections, subject to the construction of a ball stop fence of at least two-metres in height. In dialogue with Kings Bromley Cricket Club, the applicant has agreed to construct a fence of up to six-metres high, the specification of which would be agreed at a later stage.”
The planning committee will debate the report and application at a meeting on 13th April.
