PEOPLE are being urged to register their CCTV or doorbell cameras to help tackle crime in the local community.
Staffordshire Police said the directory would allow officers to know where potential evidence might be found.
A spokesperson said:
"Sometimes CCTV or doorbell cameras capture key evidence without us realising.
"That's why we've just launched a new CCTV registry scheme in Staffordshire, so officers can quickly alert you to situations where your footage may be helpful.
"You have complete control over the footage you send, and we can't remotely access your cameras, so joining the scheme doesn't affect your privacy.
"It takes just 60 seconds to add your details to our secure system and within minutes you could be helping us to solve crimes.
"If you don't have CCTV or a doorbell camera, but you have friends, family or neighbours who do, please make them aware of this new scheme so they can register."
