More details have been revealed about plans to prevent commuters using Lichfield Trent Valley station from parking on nearby residential roads.
Staffordshire County Council is looking to implement restrictions on streets including Burton Old Road, Bexmore Drive and Holland Close.
Despite the reopening of the London Midland car park at Lichfield Trent Valley on Burton Old Road, residents say some commuters have been opting to park for free nearby instead.
But the new plans would see no waiting restrictions introduced on Monday to Friday from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm.
A letter to local residents from Staffordshire County Council outlined proposals to phase in the parking crackdown: “We have received a request from county councillor Janet Eagland to proceed with a proposal to provide a no waiting, timed restriction, that will prevent commuter parking from the nearby railway station.
“Even though the traffic regulation order would be prepared for the plan proposed, it is suggested that we introduce a phased construction by implementing the restriction along Burton Old Road initially, and after close monitoring – if found necessary – extend the restrictions to other cul-de-sacs.
“It is important to remember that there will be no allowances made for visitors who park or wait on the single yellow lines during the times posted.”
A number of the junctions on Burton Old Road in Streethay will also see parking restrictions to improve safety, with Staffordshire County Council saying double yellow lines will be introduced to stop “inappropriate parking” in the area.
