The Garrick was transformed into an undersea vehicle as children’s TV favourites The Octonauts came to the city.
The show followed Captain Barnacles and his crew as they battled to help deep sea creatures before an underwater volcano erupted.
An enthusiastic crew of young ‘cadets’ in the audience clapped and cheered as the show moved along at pace.
As well as the live action, there were also some nice uses of puppetry to change the pace of the show.
The junior crowd particularly enjoyed the interaction with the characters and the action and if there were a criticism it would have been that more of this was needed to keep some of the younger theatre-goers engaged.
This was shown to be the case with a singing and dancing finale which saw the entire audience on their feet and joining in – with some of the songs being sung long after the curtain had come down.
