A Lichfield secondary school has confirmed it will close for a day because of strike action.
King Edward VI confirmed to parents that it will be forced to shut its doors because of a walkout by the ATL and NUT unions on June 30.
The industrial action is being taken following a dispute over public sector pensions.
A statement from the board of governors said:
“Following an assessment of the likely number of staff who intend to take strike action and the implications of that action for students, it has been decided that the school will be closed to students on June 30.”
Meanwhile, The Friary School has not yet decided whether it will be forced to close.
Headteacher David Lister has, however, warned parents that it could shut for the day.
In a letter to parents he wrote:
“I am sorry that at this point in time I am unable to tell you whether or not the school will be closed. However, given the possibility the school will be closed to all or some year groups, I would be grateful if you could put in place any childcare arrangements as wwill be necessary should we have to take the decision to close.
“We must all hope that the issues over which the industrial action has arisen are resolved as soon as possible.”
Nether Stowe School were not available for comment on how the strike will affect their students.
Chase Terrace Technology College in Burntwood has already confirmed it will close for the day.
