Pupils at a Lichfield school have donated the equivalent of more than 1,200 meals to a local food bank.
Students at Maple Hayes Dyslexia School on Abnalls Lane doubled the amount of items handed over to Lichfield Food Bank last year.
All year groups brought in non-perishable food to donate to the charity supporting those in need this Christmas.
Dr Daryl Brown, headteacher at Maple Hayes Dyslexia School, said:
“Doubling last year’s total is an incredible achievement and shows the community spirit we instil amongst our pupils.
“Lichfield Foodbank is a charity that is very close to our hearts as a school and it was great to see our pupils take it upon themselves to gather as much food as possible once we issued the call out for donations.
“They were really determined to beat last year’s total.
“I would like to thank our caring and community-focused pupils as well as their generous families, as well as thanking Lichfield Foodbank for the incredible job they do.”
