VISITORS are being invited to enjoy a “river of flowers” at an open gardens event.
It will take place in Whittington on 28th and 29th June and feature 18 locations across the village.
Among those on display will be the Jubilee Community Orchard in Jubilee Park and the Middleton Bridge Garden, which has previously won the Heart of England in Bloom chairman’s special award.
A spokesperson for Whittington and Fisherwick Environment Group said:
“Having won Gold awards in the regional Heart of England in Bloom competition 5 times running and topped the large village category for the entire West Midlands region last year, Whittington is opening up its beautiful gardens and spaces for all to see.
“The village prides itself on creating a river of flowers, with beautiful public spaces and wildlife friendly gardens galore. This year there are 14 gardens and four public spaces with a great variety of character and styles and plants.
“Refreshments are available at the Main Street Cafe in the village and the two pubs, The Dog and The Bell, as well as at some of the gardens.
The main car park is at the west end of Back Lane and there is disabled parking available in the car park next to St Giles Hospice.
Admission costs £5 including a booklet with locations and information. Entry can be paid at the Back Lane Car Park, Main Street Cafe and at several of the gardens.
