Jim and Joel Ashton shot to fame after appearing on BBC Gardener’s World in June.

Whittington and Fisherwick Environment Group committee member Mike Kinghan emailed the brothers to invite them to talk – an invitation they accepted, despite seeing a flurry of enquiries including a book commission and a new TV series.

Mike said: “Jim and Joel are two of the country’s leading experts on gardening for nature and we are thrilled they are coming to share their knowledge with us.

“In an era when we have been losing precious wildlife hand over fist our gardens are increasingly recognised vital haven for many species from frogs to bees, house martins to hedgehogs.”

Jim and Joel’s talk will be on the theme of attracting wildlife to your garden, offering tips such as leaving mixed piles of garden waste to rot down under pond liner offcuts to create a warm environment covered from predators.

Joel said: “We’re on a mission to help bring back the UK’s wildlife, one pond, meadow or garden at a time.

“Whittington and Fisherwick residents have been making great efforts to make their villages nature-friendly and we’re absolutely delighted to be coming to give them the benefit of our experience.”

The Butterfly Brothers talk is taking place at 7pm on 13th November at Coton House Farm (WS14 9LQ). Entry on the door is £5 for adults, with under 16s free.
