The We Love Lichfield Fund has received a £250 boost after the World’s Shortest Fun Run around Princes Park in Burntwood.

Organisers KP Events donated a percentage of the entry fees from the the event.

The donation means that the company – which also organises the Lichfield Cathedral Dash and the Lichfield Half Marathon – have now raised over £750 for the We Love Lichfield Fund in the last two years.

“I’m delighted that I can contribute to my home patch,” said Paul Griffin, director of KP Events. “My home and my business are in Lichfield district and I am passionate about the area and its people.

“The We Love Lichfield Fund is great because you know that all the money raised goes to the district and nowhere else, and I hope our contribution will benefit some very worthwhile organisations.”

Simon Price, Patron of the We Love Lichfield Fund, added:  “I would like to thank everyone at KP Events for their kind generosity, for organising their sports events in the district which many enjoy and for coming up with the idea of the World’s Shortest Fun Run.”

Launched in 2011, the We Love Lichfield Fund provides small grants to a wide range of projects based in Lichfield district. The fund will consider all applications from local groups in need twice a year.

Companies and individuals are welcomed to donate or fundraise and all money is invested through a permanent endowment fund by registered charity Staffordshire Community Foundation on behalf of We Love Lichfield in line with charity commission guidelines. The interest and dividends earned on the invested money is then distributed as small grants across the district.
