A new coffee shop could be built in Burntwood.

Developers have applied for permission to create the store at the front of the former Tesco Express and Kwik Save site at Sankey’s Corner.

It follows a previous decision to allow the creation of a McDonald’s restaurant in the car park are behind where the buildings currently stand.

The developers say the new shop would be a boost for the area.

“The new coffee kiosk will make a number of positive contributions to the locality, town, economy and community,” a statement supporting the application said.

“It will mean a new cafe with the local centre, which will complement the other existing businesses and increase the offering within Burntwood.”

Full details of the proposals can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
