Chasetown Community School is the first across Staffordshire to confirm it will not open to pupils on December 12.

Others could still follow suit after more than 300 were shut across the county today (December 11).

A statement on Staffordshire County Council’s website said the school would not open due to “severe weather conditions making roads and the school site unsafe for transport”.

ThIs is because most of our pupils arrive by taxi from quite a wide area and Church Street is not on the gritting list for the County Council and is quite treacherous at the moment.
