MORE details have been unveiled on plans for 77 new homes on land in Fradley.
The development has been earmarked for the Midland Pig Producers site off Hay End Lane.
A reserved matters statement has detailed the potential layout of the new homes and landscaping.
The initial development was approved following an appeal to the Secretary of State in 2021.
A planning statement said:
“The proposed dwellings will be served off a single point of access from Hay End Lane as was determined at the outline stage. A second access will be provided on Hay End Lane to serve the pumping station and to provide a temporary turning area for buses.
“Streets are designed as ‘places’, not just roads working with the landscaping to break up the hard surfaces of roads and parking.
“Where possible, garages have been set to the rear of the plot to enable parking to take place to the side of the dwellings, avoiding excessive parking in the public realm.
“The layout prioritises pedestrians over cars – avoiding the rigid geometry of
road layouts, as these can result in bland, uniform developments.“Building lines and landscaping act as natural traffic calming measures.”

It should really read..A compact site with maximum use of the space so that you can live snugly together. Although there are no shops, amenities, doctors, dentists and schools nearby there is little provision for cars as we doubt you will need one. There is only one entrance to the development anyway so it would make them impractical. This is a fast developing area and the Secretary of State is sure to approve further sites regardless of opposition from NIMBYs.
It might sound less attractive, but it’s nearer the truth.
Here we go again another block of houses which will then be followed by further blocks filling the gaps. Forced through by appealing to the Secretary of State which is the default planning route nowadays.
