Lichfield residents braved the winter chill to turn out in force to see the city’s Christmas lights switched on.
A packed Market Square was treated to Christmas carols from local schoolchildren ahead of the ceremony.
The big switch-on was carried out by Britain’s Got Talent finalist Shaun Smith.
And even Santa got in on the act by making an appearance, thanks to Lichfield Round Table.
One resident who braved the cold to turn out said:
“It was absolutely freezing, but it’s good to get in the Christmas mood and see the lights switched on.”
