CHASETOWN departed the Staffordshire Senior Cup after a 2-1 home defeat against Leek Town.
The Scholars got off to a slow start and found themselves behind after 15 minutes when Louis Potts netted for the visitors.
But Jamie Hawkins’ men went close to a leveler when George Cater’s low drive fizzed just wide of the target in a first half lacking in real chances for either side.
Leek carved out the first opportunity of the second half with a shot over the bar as they looked to double their advantage.
The next goal was always going to be important and it went the way of Chasetown as they levelled on the hour mark when Ty Webster’s effort rebounded to Jack Langston who slotted home.
Cater sent a looping shot just over while Langston also sent a strike wide as the Scholars looked for a winner.
But there was to be late agony for the hosts as Leek booked their place in the next round with a last minute goal.
