HUNDREDS of children came together for a day of fun at the Lichfield Family Hub's Fun Day. The free event, which attracted around 400 people, featured an inflatable assault course, laser tag, archery, table tennis and video games.
Visitors also enjoyed activities with Getin2it, MAMA UK, Fun Club and live music performances from Liberty Jamboree, Vibez and Ridez DJ.
Families also got the opportunity to meet and hear from over 30 local support services and organisations on the day.
Based on Purcell Avenue, the Family Hub supports children, young people and families across the city. It offers health visiting, midwifery appointments, targeted family support, SEND support and a weekly Youth Hub. Cllr Nick Lakin, cabinet member for children and young people at Staffordshire County Council, said:
"Our Family Hubs are at the heart of communities, providing families with access to support, advice and opportunities to thrive. “The Fun Day was a fantastic chance for families to enjoy quality time together during the summer holidays and it was great to see so many turning up. Not only did they get the chance to try new activities, but they also got to connect with local services in a relaxed and welcoming environment. “Our Family Hubs continue to grow as busy and welcoming spaces for all families and I’m particularly keen that dads know these services are very much for them, too. Every dad has something to give and gain from the wide range of activities and support and I would encourage each of them to come along and get involved."
Visitors to the Fun Day also had the chance to see a fire engine and police car up close, while the first 50 children received a free ice cream.
