Plans to convert Hammerwich’s post office into a residential property would be “undesirable”.

Lichfield District Council has refused an application for prior approval for the building on Hall Lane.

In a letter to the applicant, a planning officer said: “I can advise that the Local Planning Authority have concerns regarding the impact the loss of the post office would have on the local community.

“It appears undesirable for the building to change its use as the loss of this facility could be detrimental to the sustainability of the settlement and to the health and well-being of its residents.”

Full details of the application can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
