A FOOTBALL coach is continuing to tackle a gruelling challenge to net funds for a local charity.
James Lewis has reached France as part of his bid to dribble a ball 2,000 miles from Marrakech to the Midlands.
His fundraising efforts for St Giles Hospice are now closing in on £50,000.
The 26-year-old is on track to reach Calais on 15th July before crossing the ferry and arriving at Wembley in time for the World Cup final three days later.
The final leg will see him head for the Midlands by 25th JMuly.
As well as donations, a number of kind-hearted French locals have lent a hand by providing food and a bed each night.
James said:
"The kindness I have experienced in France has been absolutely incredible.
"I set off from Africa completely alone and yet complete strangers have opened their homes to me, fed me, looked after me and made sure I am ready to go again the next morning.
"It has kept me going more than they will ever know. I am so close to home now and I am not stopping until I get there."
