A Lichfield gym has confirmed it is hoping to move to a new facility being created on Boley Park.

The Lichfield Health and Fitness Club has been looking for a new long-term home since 2017 when plans were submitted to build homes on its current base on Rotten Row.

Central England Co-operative is hoping to add a gym facility as part of a £3million redevelopment of its Boley Park superstore.

In a letter to members, Lichfield Health and Fitness Club confirmed it hoped to take on the site:

“We have been working hard to find a location close to our current one, that’s easy to get to by foot or transport, with free parking, and a site that gives us the scope to truly deliver to our members a club like no other.

“With all this in mind, I am delighted to announce that we have agreed terms with the Co-Operative superstore at Boley Park, as part of their redevelopment of the site.

“This will involve substantial downsizing of their current store, with ourselves taking over the majority of the building, enabling us to deliver a state of the art gym and facilities for our members and a club we think you deserve.

“But most importantly, we want to keep the warm and welcoming ethos that you have come to love.”

Members were told the club hoped to open at the new site in September 2020 if planning permission for the £3million scheme is granted.
