Lichfield pizza takeaway’s illuminated advertising plan rejected

Published:

A Lichfield pizza takeaway has been refused permission to install illuminated advertising.

The Papa John’s shop on Birmingham Road had applied to Lichfield District Council in a bid to install a lit slogan below the signage it already has permission for.

But the local authority has turned down the application saying it was inappropriate for a conservation area of the city.

The decision notice said: “The signage, by virtue of its principle and additional illumination, would result in excessive clutter of signage on the existing building, which would detract from the character and appearance of the Lichfield City Conservation Area and the wider street scene.”

Full details of the application and decision can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s website.
