The Lichfield Players are returning to the stage in the city with their production of The Flint Street Nativity.
The group will be at the Lichfield Garrick from 25th to 28th January.
The play tells the story of Mrs Horrocks’ class of seven-year-olds, all played by adults, who are about to perform their nativity play at Flint Street Junior School for the proud mums and dads – and the occasional social worker.
Squabbles arise when Gabriel wants to play Mary, the star grumbles he’s not a proper star like they have at NASA, Herod won’t stop waving to his mum and dad and the subversive Innkeeper is determined to liven up the traditional script.
Director Maureen George said:
“Working with the cast of The Flint Street Nativity has been as challenging as working with real seven-year-olds!
“Let’s be honest, with the exception of wetting themselves and pulling each other’s teeth out, it’s been unnervingly difficult at times to tell where the adult ends and the child begins.”
