AN initiative helping local people feel more confident and connected with technology is celebrating after reaching a milestone.
The Mobile Help Hub at The Hub at St Mary’s has been running for a year after being set up by Adam Stamps.
It has helped to tackle digital exclusion and support people who may otherwise find an increasingly online world difficult to navigate.
To celebrate the milestone, regular visitors popped by The Hub at St Mary’s to enjoy some birthday cake and mark the occasion with Adam.
Over the past year, he has supported people with a wide range of everyday technology challenges from setting up and using NHS apps and adjusting accessibility settings, to identifying potential scams, understanding mobile phone contracts and providing one-to-one digital tutoring.
The service has continued to grow since it launched, with Adam now providing support in retirement complexes, working with local societies and offering individual sessions to people across the wider community. Adam said:
"I am extremely happy with how things shaped out this last year. I have met some amazing people along the way, all while being able to change people lives for the better.
"This service was established to fight digital exclusion and anxiety in this current age, and throughout this past year we have done so for so many.
"I am excited to see what new things await me in the coming years - we have some big things planned."
Hayley Gilliam, community engagement officer at The Hub at St Mary's, said:
"The Mobile Help Hub’s first birthday is a celebration not only of the service’s success, but of the people who have used it and gained the confidence to make technology work for them.
"Well done, Adam, on an amazing first year – and here’s to many more."
