Pupils from a Lichfield school have made a splash to raise more than £1,000 for charity.
The Maple Hayes Dyslexia School youngsters took part in a charity swimathon for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Thirty year seven pupils took part in the national fundraising event, swimming for half an hour at Lichfield’s Friary Grange Leisure Centre with each length being sponsored.
Stacey Smalley, community fundraiser for Marie Curie in Staffordshire, was overwhelmed by the total handed over and said: “Maple Hayes’ effort has been really admirable and I’m astonished at the amount of money raised by such a small group of pupils.
“Normally we receive donations of around £300 from schools with hundreds of pupils taking part, so we are shocked to receive such a considerable sum from one event.
“We are so grateful for the pupils’ participation and want to say a big thank you to all of those who got involved.”
