Children at a village primary school are enjoying new play equipment thanks to a fundraising drive.
Friends of Hayes Meadow, the Parent Teacher Association of Hayes Meadow School in Armitage, regularly raises money to help provide extra resources, and has recently purchased a new climbing frame for the key stage 2 playground.
Headteacher Sarah Sivieri said: “We wanted to increase the amount of outdoor play equipment at the school so children could have fun in the fresh air.
“Friends of Hayes Meadow has worked really hard over the last few years to raise the £6,000 needed for us to purchase the new climbing frame, and the children have been really excited about its arrival.”
The money has been raised through fetes, Christmas fayres, non-uniform days, school discos, movie nights and a Santa Sleigh.
Samantha Gregg, Chair of Friends of Hayes Meadow said: “It’s great that our fundraising efforts over the last few years have generated enough money to purchase such a substantial piece of equipment for the school.
“Our fundraising also helps with smaller projects such as the purchase of lunchtime picnic blankets, school leavers gifts, sports kits and coach hire fees to special events.”
