Plans to speed up the ordering process at a drive-thru McDonald’s in Lichfield have been unveiled.
The company hopes to install ‘side-by-side ordering lanes’ at their Wall Island site to help customers get their food even quicker.
A statement supporting the planning application for the additional new lane said: “The inclusion of the side-by-side lane provides an additional order point for customers to purchase meals.
“Historically, this process has been managed on an ad hoc basis using the existing drive-thru lane with two members of staff using handheld computers taking orders.
“The intention is to streamline and formalise the ordering process during peak trading times without the need to have members of staff outside the building.
“This will also assist in reducing the length of the potential queue, thus reducing congestion.”
Residents can view the plans and have their say on them via Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
