Two Lichfield high schools could be expanded if plans are given the go-ahead.
A consultation has been launched by Staffordshire County Council to add an extra 170 places at Nether Stowe School and 180 places at King Edward VI School.
A letter outlining the plans revealed that it would “increase the accommodations” to provide sufficient capacity at the former, while the latter would utilise parts of the former leisure centre building to create the additional spaces.
“The additional accommodation is necessary in order to mitigate the impact of new homes within Lichfield,” the letter added.
“These proposed projects will deliver the first phase of strategic growth for secondary schools in Lichfield.
“Further secondary school places in Lichfield are required in the future and proposals for these places will be consulted on at the relevant time.”
A four week consultation period ends on May 14.
