PLANS have been submitted for 230 new homes to be build on land near Whittington.

The proposals have been drawn up for a site north of Fisherwick Road.

The application to Lichfield District Council said the scheme would provide "significant" amounts of public open space, as well as going "over and above" to meet market and affordable housing needs.

A planning statement said:

"Outline planning permission is sought for the development of up to 230 dwellings, public open space and associated infrastructure, with 43% of the housing provided being affordable – which is a 15% uplift on Lichfield District Council's affordable housing policy.

"Approximately 30% of the total site area will be made available for useable public open space, equating to 3.2 hectares.

"The public open space could take the form of multiple typologies, including a community orchard, with walking and cycling routes throughout."

Full details can be found on Lichfield District Council's planning website.
