A REPORT has explored ways to improve safety at a crash “hotspot” junction in Whittington.
Whittington and Fisherwick Parish Council had asked Staffordshire County Council to carry out an appraisal of The Dog crossroads due to “the frequency of accidents” at the site.
A report has now been received which outlines options along with potential costs ranging from £6,000 to £100,000. They include improved signage and markings, road calming measures and layout alterations.
It added:
“This report looks at the feasibility of introducing various measures which could improve the safety of the crossroads.
“At this stage there is the potential for a number of external variables and unknowns to affect these estimates and consequently they should be used for guidance only.
“However, if funding allocation was a problem, it could be worth considering implementing a phase of measures over an extended period.”
