THE chairman of Lichfield Round Table is getting ready to take on a 190-mile walking challenge to raise money for a suicide prevention charity.
Daniel White will cover the journey between Billericay in Essex and Barry Island in South Wales in aid of the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
He will set off on 16th August with the aim of completing the challenge in six days.
Daniel, who is also chairman of the Area 35 Round Table Britain and Ireland, said the route would have personal relevance:
"Barry is where my Round Table journey began, so walking back there from Billericay will make this challenge incredibly personal.
"Round Table helped save my life. It gave me friendship when I needed it most, a sense of purpose and people who stood beside me, sometimes without realising just how much I needed them.
"This walk is my opportunity to give something back, raise money for CALM and start conversations that could help somebody else realise they don’t have to struggle alone."
CALM provides life-saving services and practical mental-health support, including free, confidential and anonymous support for people anywhere in the UK who are struggling, have been affected by suicide or are worried about somebody else.
Daniel added:
"Walking 190 miles in six days will be physically and mentally demanding, but the reason behind it is much bigger than the challenge itself.
"Anyone who would like to join me somewhere along the route will be more than welcome. Whether somebody walks one mile, five miles or an entire day, the company and encouragement will mean a great deal."
