Families of police officers who have lost their lives will be visiting the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield for their Annual Survivors Weekend.

The Care Of Police Survivors (COPS) event takes place on the last weekend of July each year and incorporates a memorial service, support seminars and social activities.

The event – which starts today and runs until Sunday (July 24-26) – also allows survivors to meet with and speak to other survivors, share experiences and learn how others have rebuilt their lives.

Care of Police Survivors (otherwise known as COPS) is independent of the police service and is a UK registered charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. It aims to ensure that survivors have all the help they need to cope with such a tragedy, and that they remain part of the police family.
