Leader pays tribute after death of Lichfield councillor

Tributes who have been paid to a councillor who has died.

Cllr Jeanette Allsopp died on Sunday (April 8).

Cllr Mike Wilcox, leader of Lichfield District Council, said she would be missed by all who knew her.

“Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time,” he said.

“Cllr Allsopp was dedicated to local issues and representing residents, and served as a district councillor from 1987 to 1995 as the ward member for Curborough. She was the ward member for Boley Park from 1999 to 2014, and again from 2014 onwards for the ward of Curborough.

“Most recently, Cllr Allsopp sat on planning committee as well as leisure, parks and waste management overview and scrutiny committee.

“She was a valued member of Lichfield District Council and will be missed by us all.”

    Jeanette was a good colleague.

    She was also a vital source of wit, wisdom and encouragement to new councillors. We’re going to miss her.
