A number of authors have been confirmed for the Lichfield Literature festival.

Richard Hawley, director of the Lichfield Festival, revealed a number of the star turns on his blog before giving readers a sneak preview at the official programme for the event.

Although tickets for the showpiece Lichfield Literary Dinner featuring Kate Adie have sold out, the festival will include visits by a number of other authors including:

  • David Aaronovitch on the role of conspiracy theories in modern history
  • Historical novelist Barbara Ewing
  • Lawrence Goldman, editor of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography
  • Crime writers Sophie Hannah and Peter Robinson in a Lichfield Library double bill
  • Tobias Hill discussing his latest novel The Hidden
  • Historian Robert Hutchinson on the Dukes of Norfolk
  • Andrew Lambert on Captain John Franklin’s doomed expedition
  • Stephen Lyttelton on collating his father’s last writings
  • David Charles Manners on the impact of India on his life
  • David Nokes speaking about his new biography of Samuel Johnson
  • Mathematician Ian Stewart
  • Explorer Sara Wheeler on the arctic
  • Frances Wilson on Dorothy Wordsworth
  • Matthew Yeo on the history of the book.
