Ashley Evans had a debut to remember, as his 25 yard screamer helped Lichfield City claim their first three points of the season.

A second strike from Olly Budd proved decisive, as City won 2-0.

Manager Paul Holt got the reaction he wanted from his players, after last week’s defeat against RC Warick.

Holt’s boys dominated the first half, but an inspired display from Vale keeper Josh Benton kept it goaless at half-time.

Vale’s resistance was finally broken on 65 minutes, as Leon Morgan played in Evans, who rifled home a 25 yard belter.

City made the game safe 10 minutes later, as Kyle Minto played in Budd, who made no mistake.

Budd was a denied a second as the excellent Benton kept his shot out.

On Saturday August 17th City travel to old rivals Bromsgrove kick off (3pm).
