Lib Dems urge Lichfield and Burntwood voters to break up the Conservative monopoly on local councils

Voters have been urged to break up the Conservative monopoly on local councils.

Residents in Lichfield and Burntwood will go to the polls on May 4 to elect their representatives on Staffordshire County Council.

The Liberal Democrats have called on local people to think about the bigger picture when casting their vote.

A spokesperson said: “In our area, the Conservatives control the city, district and county councils. As the Conservative government pushes through damaging policies such as funding cuts to vital local services, how can we be sure that our local councils are standing up for our interests?

“Voting Liberal Democrat will ensure that there is effective scrutiny of Tory decisions and not just rubber-stamping of policies which will be bad for Lichfield and Burntwood and surrounding areas.

“Staffordshire deserves and needs much better services from its county council. The Liberal Democrats are fighting to ensure that that is delivered on May 4.”
