The win not only brought an end to a run of defeats, but it also marked manager Ivor Green’s 250th game in charge.
Mickleover carved out the first chance of note in the opening stages, with home keeper Brendon Bunn on hand to deny them by coming out on top in a one-on-one.
At the other end, Charlie Footes saw his shot kept out by visiting stopper Jack McDowell.
City went even closer when Harvey Smith’s strike hit the crossbar.
A spell of Lichfield pressure finally paid off in the 28th minute when Jack Edwards’ corner saw Leighton McMenemey nod home to give his side the lead.
The second period saw both sides create half chances, with Bunn saving a low effort and Edwards sending a shot wide.
The points were wrapped up two minutes from time when Footes managed to beat the keeper to a long ball and slot into the net for his first in City colours.
