LICHFIELD City Women bowed out of the county cup after a 2-1 loss at Newcastle Town.
Chloe Hood had the first real chance of note for the visitors, but saw her effort comfortably collected by the keeper.
At the other end, Erica Turner had to be alert to turn away a Newcastle strike.
The hosts did break the deadlock midway through the first half though when Evie Sharp converted after Turner had pushed an initial effort onto the post.
Things got even worse for City shortly afterwards when Connie Shaw Peake steered home a free-kick.
Turner was again called into action to deny Newcastle a third early in the second half.
Lichfield got a foothold back in the game when Hood stepped up to convert a penalty.
But City were unable to find an elusive equaliser as they exited the cup.
