A Lichfield woman has revealed how taking up running to raise money for charity has helped transform her own life.
Aimee Edge decided to pull on her trainers to support Send a Cow.
She has now set herself the target of running the 2020 Bath Half Marathon to support the cause, alongside the charity’s ambassador, actor Ben Aldridge.
Aimee was inspired to take up the challenge after seeing Ben interviewed on TV.
As a result she signed up for a couch to 5k course with her local club, The Chasewater Runners.
Aimee said:
“Just under 12 months later and I have entered my first half marathon.
“When I turned up on week one of the course, I had no idea if I was ever going to be able to run a half marathon, and I certainly wasn’t prepared for how much it was going to improve my life.
“The running club has brought me some truly amazing friends, and has totally transformed my social life. I’m now the fittest I’ve ever been.
“Crossing the line in Bath will mean so much to me as it is the reason I started this journey.
“I am so happy that in doing this. I will be able to raise funds to make a difference to somebody else’s life.
“It is strange to think that if I hadn’t been at home and seen that interview I might not even have started running.”

“Perseverance and positivity”
Aimee has run a 12.1 mile stretch in her training and has even completed a half marathon in Birmingham as part of her preparation.
Events manager at Send a Cow, Emily Lynch, said:

“Aimee’s fundraising for Send a Cow will go towards vital training that enables families in rural Africa to thrive, on their own land, on their own terms.”
