Members of Lichfield Ladies Circle and Lichfield Round Table have completed the gruelling ten mile Hellrunner event on Cannock Chase.

Described by the organisers as the “hilliest, hardest and helliest trail of torment”, the event ensured that the participants got cold and wet after the coldest night of the year – and was described as one of their biggest challenges yet.

Julian Webb, Round Table chair, said: “‘This was ‘nature at its toughest!

“There was everything from ice covered running tracks and trails to the waist high ice-covered Bog of Doom, with music from the Devil’s disco to add to the atmosphere.”

Gaynor Webb, Ladies Circle chair, added: “I’m delighted that everybody completed the course safely and in very respectable times despite bruised and tired legs.”

Lichfield Round Table and Lichfield Ladies Circle welcome prospective new members to their social agenda of events in 2012, and further details are available on their websites at www.lichfieldroundtable.co.uk and www.lichfieldladiescircle.co.uk
