The site of a disused car dealership and garage in Burntwood could be converted into housing.
Plans have been submitted to Lichfield District Council to develop the old Acorn Garage premises on Queen Street.
The proposals outline plans for six two-bed and eight three-bed houses to be built on the site.
In a statement supporting the application, the developers said the site would be improved if the new homes got the green light.
“Over recent years, since the economic downturn, the business activity of the garage decreased necessitating closure and the site has been vacant ever since,” they explained.
“More suitable locations for such a use exist elsewhere and it is understood that there has been no interest from similar organisations to acquire the site and to continue its use.
“The existing buildings have little architectural merit. It is considered that homes would provide a more pleasing visual aesthetic.”
