Police are hoping Lichfield commuters can help identify a man wanted in connection with homophobic abuse aimed at a passenger at Birmingham New Street.
As well as trying to trace the man identified in CCTV images, officers are also appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident – which took place at around 5.20pm on February 6- to come forward with any information.
PC Jas Bathal said: “The 30-year-old victim and a friend had travelled to Birmingham New Street on board the 4.20pm service from Northampton. When they got off the train on platform 3, a man approached them and began shouting homophobic abuse at the victim.
“As the victim and his friends made their way towards the station exit, the offender continues to shout homophobic remarks towards the victim, leaving both the victim and his friend visibly shaken by the man’s unprovoked comments.”
PC Bathal added: “This type of behaviour is offensive and intimidating and has absolutely no place on the rail network.
“Homophobic abuse will simply not be tolerated and I am determined to identify the person responsible and bring him to justice.
