Richard Davis from Waitrose’s Lichfield store said: “We are delighted to be sponsors of the Lichfield Half Marathon this year.

“It’s a prestigious event for the city and is also a major occasion for the wider community and we want to seen to be supporting events which promote positive messages and benefits associated with a healthy lifestyle.”

Kevin Wilson, from KP Events, is also keen to see a partnership with Waitrose grow this year and into 2013 and beyond.

“The Waitrose brand is synonymous with quality and high standards so for them to be a partner with us to support the link between fitness and exercise and healthy nutrition and lifestyle is fantastic,” he explained.

“In 2012 with the Olympics coming up we’ll have Waitrose with us at the Half Marathon and at the Florette Lichfield Dash on June 30 when the Olympic Torch comes to Lichfield along with our special guest – Olympic medallist Roger Black.”

Entries are still being accepted into the Waitrose Lichfield Half Marathon via the registration link at www.kpevents.net. For more information call race director Paul Griffin on 07947698147.

KP Events has also confirmed its two sporting ambassadors in Olympic year – Tom Humphries of Cannock and Stafford AC and Phil Clamp from Tipton Harriers.

Kevin added: “Tom receives no support from the Lottery and he’s looking to be at London in a few months time so we’ll do what we can to help him.

“Phil is simply a class act and a great athlete and good coach so we want to use his skills to work with young upcoming local running talent.”
